"Artists Block"

Has anyone any ideas that can help me. Have been ill for a few weeks, and have just got back to painting again.  Started one last weekend of a hidden pool amongst a lot of greenery, with rocks also, background and foreground.  I have done all that but now have the water to do and try as I might, cannot get it to look good, with the reflections etc. What would you suggest for the color for the underpainting for the water, as there are lots of green, and light colors reflecting. I will run out of color before long as I am doing a lot of removing at present.

have you tried using complementary color for underpainting?  red or burnt sienna would be good for landscapes with a lot of green.  Richard's demo this month should be helpful for painting the water and reflections

Hi Brenda

I know how you are suffering.  Just went to Google and did a search  "Artists Block"   Found many articles with answers!  Hope you go and do some reading.  You are not alone.  I suffer from it also, and I have all the time in the world to paint and that is susposedly what I really want to do and yet I keep procrastinating.............hugs,  Dorian

Hi Dorian

Thanks for that, will google that topic, hopefully will assist me.  I don't usually have this problem, but now my health is improving I think that may be all I need to get on with it.  hugs to you too...Brenda

Try the book, "The War of Art" by Steven Pressfield - but keep it handy cause you will have the block more than 1 time.
