Hi my name is Brenda, have been painting for at least 40 years, and been relatively successful with various public exhibitions.  I have found Richards online painting lessons extremely informative.  Have mostly worked with oils and gouache, but decided that I would try Acrylics, they are good but a bit frustrating in that they dry very quickly and would like to know if there is anything that can be used with them to reactivate them the next day, otherwise you need to use so much.  Gouache is great in that they can be used over and over, so no wastage.

Hello Brenda,

I am so glad to meet you and give you a warm welcome to the group.  Richard is using  Acrylics  and perhaps he can give you some suggestions.  Smiles to you.......... dor:))

Thank you Dor, I welcome the chance to be able to chat with other people interested in painting like me.  I have looked at quite a few paintings of Richards and love his style...cheers Brenda

hello Brenda, Victor harbor what a great place, I'm in Adelaide. There are mediums you can buy to mix with acrylics to slow the drying process down...talk to someone who sells art supplies....i go to Noah's Art Supplies here in Adelaide @ Holden Hill, Con is his name and he is very helpful with info.

Brenda,,if someone gives you an email address to contact them, please don't,,,scammers on the hunt again.

Hello Debbie, yes Victor is beautiful, have lived here for nearly eight years, came from Redwood Park so know Adelaide very well. I will take your advice and re: medium for slowing down drying time for acrylics, have only done one painting which I put on the photo site. My first foray into the world of acrylics!!!! love oils so this was quite different, it is of a hibiscus so would really value your input on it.  With regard to email addresses, yes I have had one which I would definitely not contact, I think you may have seen it, someone called happiness, I am pretty savvy when it comes to scammers etc.

When I get into Adelaide again I shall go to Duthy Street Art supplies they are also pretty good.

Brenda, I have been using Atelier Interactive Acrylics from Chroma for the last couple of years and there are various ways of keeping the open time of the paint. I suggest you have a look at the website: http://www.chromaonline.com/ there you will find a heap of info in pdf format. The other acrylic paint manufacturers are also addressing the drying time with various open mediums so it should not be a great problem.

Conversely, I have just painted my first water-soluble oil study and the thing that I dislike the most is the long drying time, so there you are ... horses for courses! lol

Thanks Lyndon, yes I will look up that website, I have only just done the one painting in acrylics which I posted in the photo section, and I am at present going to start another one.  I do agree with regard to oils that they take ages to dry, especially when you are eager to get it framed, probably why I also love gouache, drys quick and very workable.

Hi Brenda. Glad you liked the 'seen better days' blog.

Like Lyndon I've been using Atelier Interactive for years now, and as he said there is good info on the Chroma website. These paints can be kept 'open' with a water spray  or 'reopened' the next day with the Unlocking Formula made especially for the paints depending on which mediums you have used.  Feel free to call me if you have any questions re Interactive .

My studio is at Strathalbyn which is not that far from Victor. (the number is on my website) . You may be interested, I sell art supplies at the studio and this week having a clearance sale. Might save a trip to Adelaide.

Many thanks Richard, it is only 40 mins drive to Strath. I do want some more supplies, so expect a visit. thankyou.
