Hello Everyone!  I've just joined today and I am 57 yrs old. I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.   Although I have done "some" artwork all my life it has only been in the last 10 years that I really picked it up in earnest and realized what I've been missing.  I wanted to learn watercolor so about 10 years ago I bought a ton of books and began self teaching and found I really enjoyed it but found it extremely challenging so I put it aside and took up colored pencil.  Love the control as I love detail!  The most important thing I found with doing colored pencil is that when doing watercolor, it wasn't that I lacked talent but just that it was not the most forgiving medium and while you can be very detailed with it, it lends itself far more to that loose ethereal style.  So the control & success I've had with colored pencils has given me the confidence to work with other mediums more readily and as a result try watercolor again.  I have done some acrylic work as well and really enjoy it.  I just got married this past weekend and I am looking forward to spending some time on our 3 week honeymoon in Hawaii in February doing some painting and sketching.  I've attached a few of my colored pencil pieces that really don't do justice to the originals as I don't think I have the right knack yet to preserving the original quality for uploading but here they are.
