Just spent the last week finalizing my new website and launched it the other day. I've been trying to figure out what to do for almost a year and this was my fix see my new website here. I'm pretty happy with it and have a few more things to do but its well on it's way to being a useful site that I can maintain myself.

My other site was dead and dying for the last several years because I didn't have the skills to maintain it and up grade the content. I came across this free site and some helpful videos which I purchased to get me to this launch date quicker then if I muddled my way through the excellent help section. I had some procrastinating to get past but it was pretty quick going once I got started into the videos.

So far I'm very pleased with the tools provided on the Weebly site and what I've accomplished with them. I've got the basics down now and I'm working on my site being found by search engines. This is the kind of stuff I would not have been able to do without help from the Artist's Websites step by step videos.

Thanks so much Saghi, I appreciate your comment on my new blog, you were to first! Have to figure out still how to reply to blog comments. Also I have a Wordpress blog I like a lot but I'm not sure I have the energy or interest in running both. I have to find the video on blog management.

looks great.

keep up the great work as making your own sites is not easy. I've thought about it and making the site page is always free and they push that well however once your ready to launch, then comes the catches with all the cost that is involved.

Hello Debbie,

Thanks I'm glad you think its looks great.

This Is my website launched and there are no other expenses, the free site on Weebly has a small logo at the bottom of each of my pages, other then that it is free!

I have a domain name which I have paid for annually for the past 10 yrs and now that I've got my domain attached to this site that would have been the only expense. I was also paying $150/yr for my other web host and now that is gone. The tools are pretty easy to use and now that I've built all my pages the edits and further page creation is really easy.

I did pay for the videos that stepped me through the basics and gives much, much more, but that was a bit like hiring a web master to set my site up at the fraction of the price. I didn't want to waste my time trying to learn the tools so these videos were well worth it for me. Even though I'm pretty handy at doing some of this computer stuff there is more information in the videos on how to promote my site, prepare and edit photos, use the different social media, that I wouldn't have gotten by just learning to use the tools.

I had been looking into and considering what to do for over a year and I'm pleased with this solution and since I couldn't afford to hire someone to do a professional site this was a great find.

I've been working on my website a little further this week and have just run into my first expense as you had warned Debbie. I am trying to set up an email attached to my domain name something like (info@denisemaxwell.ca). Has anyone else done this through Google apps it looks complicated to me and my hosting service will make it possible to continue using my email through their webmail but it will cost $45/yr it's a lot less expensive then what I've been paying them but I would rather not pay them anything. I must say I find a lot of this stuff just puts me to sleep when I'm trying to figure it out.

Congratulations Denise on building fine web site.  Just found out where you are from.  Don't know why but I was thinking that your were from New Zeland.  I looked at  paintings and the first one I clicked on because I liked was SOLD!  Good for you..........smiles  dor:))

Thanks so much Dorian. I had just opened the notice of the sale of that piece shortly before you posted this. I'm finding this is a little never ending for things to do on website building and I'm also trying to get far enough along so I can get to just maintaining it. There appears to be a little bit of a learning curve that I'm riding right now. I also have now two more bids happening on the DPW site so I'm pretty excited this is my most productive week there.

Thanks Denise. The new website is beautifully done, and I enjoyed reading your bio.

Thanks so much Rick. I got a little help (lots) from a mutual friend and it's Jane's Scott' great writing and suggestions on my bio. What a great friend to offer up that kind of help. I'm not very good with my writing skills.

Very nice website Denise.  Bookmarked it.  Can I borrow you some ideas for my own website ?

Excellent work Denise.

Congratulations, it looks great. would like to do the same one day, need to sell some more paintings first and get more financial...well done good on you:)

Looks great - and congrats and good for you on leaving the corporate world to pursue art full time!  Provides inspiration for me as I too dream of leaving my cubicle to be a full time artist.

Love your still life work!
