Thank you mairo for taking the time to comment!! I appreciate it!! There is an updated version I posted. I changed some things per Michael and Laurence suggestions and it looks much better. :)

Your water and reflections are superb. I really like the way you have added a mossy green in the water, it seems to compliment the red beak and legs just perfectly.

Very well executed, Adrienne! I agree with Michael, once the halo around his head and tail will be gone the whole bird will come foreword and the impression of melting into the background will disappear. I really like the reflection into the shallow water. Beautiful!

But don't forget to leave some of it right at the top of the birds back .. where it peaks.  David Leffell .. a Master .. likes  to use this  technique of "escaping light" in his still life paintings.

Excellent painting Adrienne!   I love the glow of your lights ... a very good illusion of light!!  The drawing looks fine and I really like how the light "escapes" from the bird into the background.  Your reflections are handled very well.  A great job here!!   I mentioned that I loved how you made the light "escape" from the top of the bird .. that is excellent .... but ...... see if you can get rid of the halo effect from around the head and top tail feathers.  Leave the glowing effect (escaping light" at the top of the birds back.  By getting rid of the halo by the head and rear, you will relate the bird to the background .. and .. bring it in front of the background.  The way it is now, the background is going ..around .. the bird .. which destroys the depth.  Now, please leave that glow at the top though.  It is always good to show the light 'escaping into the ether.
