Thank you everyone for your likes and advice! Olivia yes this is the Ashleigh Falls in Ireland. When I did this painting I actually used a photo as a reference because I've never actually been there, unfortunately. Though it is definitely one of the places I most want to visit. My family comes from County Mayo and I wanted to paint a tribute to that, to embrace a part of my heritage with my own style of painting. Lol when I painted it though I only had a 7x14 canvas left and tried to fit as much as possible to capture the falls as best as I could. But thank you for your advice! It's greatly appreciated as a self taught artist I'm always looking for ways to improve!

Very nice kayla. I love your painting of the rock.I would subdue the white of the falls. Michaels suggestion of a shadow would really be good and maybe touches of the foliage colours to link things. The Ochre would be natural where the water is churning.

Then again you may prefer it as it is. A dramatic statement.

BTW where is this. There is an Ashleigh Falls  in Ireland. Much wider but this could be a segment of it.Or not :-)

I love the movement of the water. Very well done!  To me the light of the water against the dark of the bush is quite dramatic. Beautiful.

Hi Kayla.  Very nice painting ...good contrasts .....but like Ian commented, you need a  transition from the light to the dark ...what you have now, happens too abruptly.  Also, I would suggest you cast a shadow across much of the falls .....the falls are much too bright and occupy too much space in your composition ..we see the falls and we proceed no further into your composition.  If you are going to feature the falls, then you must feature the falls ...but here, you are featuring the falls, the forest, the red trees, and the background.  So, if you would have featured  more of the river leading up to the falls ..and less of the forest ..your painting would have been about the falls.  Anyway, just a compositional problem and value problem ..keep at it.  :)
