Thank you Jon and Diane. I uploaded a rework version. Yes, Jon, they do make nice wine here, but I have never drink French wine, so I cannot compare. Enjoy your weekend!
Lovely colours. I really think your 2 trees on the left are too round and need breaking up with more spaces through them as in your photo. The tops of the mountains are maybe a bit uniform. I think you could darken the next layer of hills to maybe bring them forward a little and the warm colour you have in your sky would maybe go horizontal as going vertical as you have them suggests a wall rather then clouds and sky.Loving the bottom half of this painting with your buildings looking wonderful and the vines / hedges look amazing. I wonder if you add some of those power poles it may break up the horizontal line of the background hills. Wow thats my pennies worth hope it helps.
Well, Aurelia - it's a great scene and a very nice painting - you should tweak it a bit! - and if you still don't feel satisfied you could do another version - there's plenty of possibilities in such a good subject!!! Do they make nice wine there ;) ?
Thank you for your help Jon. I want to focus a bit on landscapes lately. This is a small painting (10 x 14"). It is a scene from South Africa near Franschoek. I am not 100% happy with the painting, but don't know why. If I knew I would know what to fix. The tree on the left also seems so fall over. Need to fix that as well.
That's a nice atmosphere Aurelia - hard to think of autumn with the burning summer here! I
wonder if you couldn't work over the houses to make them more broken color/organic and break up the horieontal 'stripes' of the trees somehow? Houses like this and boats are my two obsessions - it really speaks to me - where is it?
