Great Richard! I did paint another one... but I don't like it! So I'll try to improve it a bit before posting... though now I have less free time... Thanks a lot for your suggestions, definitely it' much nicer without the buoys!

Your daughter has a good eye for composition. This would make a good painting all by itself. It's very clear what the painting is about. With the line of boats you have repetition with variety which creates both unity and interest. The strong diagonal  is dynamic and draws the eye into the painting. It might be worth while to do another painting based on this. If you do, my suggestion would be to crop a little more off the top of the painting, making the format more horizontal and removing the buoys from the composition. Because of their brightness I think they would detract from the boats. Just a thought. :-)
