Nice glow on the rock and color compliments!
I've read through the comments and see that you aren't happy with it. There are some parts that are just brilliant, like the spray from the wave and the reflections in the sand. I think the only thing needed is some lighter and brighter values in the curl of the wave. I think you'd find that really makes it pop. For a lesson painting I think you've done well.
Dorian, I love this one. Clean fresh and watery. Those two brave birds were very well done in terms of color and shape. It is not that easy to paint the likeness as it seems. You mentioned that you are not very happy about it. I checked it. I think maybe the warm part of the waves could be lighter some where to make them lighter value than the big rock and semi transparent which you always do very well for your other paintings. Just for your reference. Again, this is a beautiful piece, value, colour combination, brush strokes, detail description of those shapes of the water movement, rocks and birds, natural and nice!
Really like the blues throughout this painting.
Very nice of you to comment Caroline. I appreciate your words so much. Thank you........Smiles : ))
I do love your suttle blend of color and smooth transitions. There are so many beautiful calm areas. I need to be able to add that to my very busy paintings :)
Thank you Sharon, "that part I did like" but that wave is the pits and I have not tried to fix it yet. Smiles to you : ))
Very nice Dor! I like the shimmering sand! Also, nice contrast.
Hi Mannerherrin
For the Blue/Violet I used what Richard used "Ultramarine Blue + Pyrrole Red + Magenta + White" adding a speck of Carbazole Violet in some places.
Smiles to you : ))
Thank you George, however I am very unhappy with it! Smiles are on there way.......: ))
