Richard, this is going to sound like a heretic speaking but I like your earlier works better, to my old eyes, it seems that you have become too engrossed with the process and showing the brush strokes and maybe leaving out some of the feeling that you had for the subject to begin with. I don't know, that just my opinion and who am I to say?  I have learnt a hell of lot from you but I'll express it differently and that's how it should be.

Richard, I like the red with the mid tone green around it.  Very nice. Ro

Anyway, I like what you make and the ease with which you work. You have a very precise look on the paintings in general. I would like to acquire your fluency in painting ;-))

Thanks Anna, yes I think you might be right about that. That was how I was seeing it but I could easily have added a vertical gradation which would have added some distance to it. 2 other problems I see with it are the angle of the water closest to us is too flat - the perspective is a bit wrong, and the sparkly bits of white are too fat, which makes them look like blobs of white rather than sparkles.

Hi Richard, I love the atmosphere of peace and tranquility in this painting. You want to sit in the shade of the tree at the edge of the water. However, the uniform color of the water removes the depth of the image; it's a bit of a pity. But maybe I'm wrong, because sometimes the colors of the photo do not accurately reflect the nuances of the painting... Anna
