Beautiful!!
Thank you so much Joy M W for the valuable detailed critic, & Im happy that u liked it as well. I agree with u that the foreground of trees has become a bit too noisy.. Also I was not sure about the color of the sky & lake in that time of day. In the reference photo there was not much sky & water showing & the wall of trees in the front was higher.
Britt Greenland, I agree with you about the focal point, & that was my intention, especially that I started the painting because I was fascinated by how the church seems to be glowing with vivid colors of the late afternoon sunlight. So, thank you so much for liking my painting.
I do have one question, though, the photo seems a bit too dark & muddy.. don't you think so too? In real, it is not so dark,, in fact the colors are more vivd.. so any advice on that?
Sorry, Joy, but I have to disagree with you on one point. One area of crisp clean lines and more detail in an otherwise soft-edge painting is called a "focal point", and it's a technique that Richard Schmidt uses. I think it's one of the best things about this lovely painting, Riham! Variety of edges makes a painting more interesting to many of us.
