12 x 12 Oil on canvas My second oil. I found it very difficult to mix the colors I wanted but I believe my problem is the quality of my water soluble oils by Artisan. My grays weren't gray enough and my bright weren't bright enough. Still learning to paint with oils. Made a lot of mud at times as I would go back into areas and mix layers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much Carolyn and Dorothy, I've been out of town visiting newest grandbaby so this has been my first chance to comment.  My Kindle will not let me comment.

Oooops! So sorry Sharon...names are important and I had a senior moment.

Sharon. I do love your painting, you have got great chunky rocks with warm lights and deap darks. The only change I might make would perhaps lighter bits of water, but if I did a painting this good I would be proud to hang it on my wall. Dorothy

Linda, I think you did an amazing job...very painterly, juicy strokes, great contrast, appealing composition.

Remember this is my second oil and first attempt at this workshop but I thought I would post a photo of my grays mixed from Artisan water soluble oils.  The only red I had was alizarin.

Your texture on your rocks are wonderful and I love the blue you used in the water.

Great depth!

Rocks are never easy but the foreground shows its teeth...........well done!

Thanks Linda, great advice.  I wanted a more reddish green and more intense orange but was unable to get the exact colors I desired. I do like the thickness of paints so that you can see the brush strokes better.
