Rita, this is charming.  You have some very nice line work and the colors are vibrant.  What was your palette choice? Definitely do not give up on w/c!

Thank you so much, Nancy, Dor and Marily for your nice and encouraging comments. These give me more confidence to go on with watercolours. And one of these day I'm sure I made some improvements and start to really love watercolours.

Marilyn, you're so right with liking paintings after put them away for a while. I just looked at al my paintings, and I do like some parts of my workshop. I really like the colours, I just love vibrant colours, and I love the banking, I think it's the best part of the painting. And the water looks fine to me also, and for the rest....well I have to practise, practise and practise even more.^_^

Great effort with watercolor, Rita. I have been struggling with them for years. Keep at it. You have a good feel for them...unlike me. :-)

The only thing I know about watercolor is that it is very difficult.  That you painted this without a drawing is amazing.   I like your loose style..........smiles............dor:))

You have a wonderful beginning with watercolor. Congrats on diving in without a drawing. That's a winner right there. Watercolor is a challenging medium, but there is so much that you can do with it. Keep up interacting with the colors. I'm also not quite happy with my work when I finish it, but I have come to the conclusion that watercolors need to "cure" just like oils. Often after I put aside what I think of as a "failure" and then weeks or months later come across it again I am surprised that it looks different. So just keep painting...you will do great!

Thank you, Patricia, Annie, Sharon and Dana for you nice comments. I'm glad to hear that it didn't come out as terrible as I thought. I do like the colours and I'm more happy with it now than the day I finished the painting. This was the first time that I've painted without a drawing. It's al painted directly on the paper, because I was trying to paint al little looser. But, been a perfectionist I didn't like the outcome, I love the loosen up paintins from many others, but my own... But I start to like it, thank you all for open my eyes.

I agree with the other comments. Your colors are good and strong. For your first watercolor I think you did a fine job. The detail around the boat shed gives the viewer the impression that work or leisure is still active.

Love the boat shed and boats and the detail there, I like the fact that you put in a banking!  You kept the water and mountains somewhat simple to draw attention to the center of interest, the boatshed and surroundings, great job.
