I painted it today during my classes. It's not finished yet. I will do final corrections next week. Definitely I will work more on boats.

Michael thank you for your comments. I really appreciate them and it's so nice to hear that such experienced artist as you has found sth. interesting in my beginner painting. I've painted it from the picture and I tried to reflect what I see adding some of feelings to it. I tried to paint it more "loose" than usual using learning from Richard's lessons. Next  week I will try to follow your advises and make corrections. And I absolutely agree with your comment regarding the title - I used "Lakes" it as a "working title" , but I need to think more about that. It's amazing how much I could learn from that forum- not only about art of painting, but also about attitude to art. Thanks.  Btw,  I hope I'm clear in my communication - English is not my first language.

Beautiful sky Marta ..  you have captured the glow of the low sun very nicely.  I like your handling of the far distant background tree mass ...   Be aware that since this is back lit and a very low sun (light source) that all of your verticals or upright planes will be dark ... like the upright planes of the boats.  Since that is tall grass, you have upright planes to deal with. Being backlit, I would suggest you lower the value of the distant and middle ground planes to a value a little lower then the clouds. I would also suggest that you melt everything in front of the sun into its glow.  The tall tree mass and the ground plane in front would be bathed in the suns glow .. it would not hurt to put highlight sparkles like you would see on water.  These would be the tips of the grass glowing in the path of the sunlight.  The values of objects in front of the sunlight, would be enveloped into this glow.  Now,  .. you titled your painting .. "The Lake", but where is the lake?  Yes, I know that it is behind the boats ...  but the lake is not your concept ... nor is it the poetry of your painting.  There is an emotional poetry to the painting .... your title takes away from this poetry.  Yes, titles do make a difference.  A judge, in a juried show I once entered, told the show sponsor that my painting would have received a prize if not for the fact that he thought the title did not "fit" the painting.  Anyway, the point is to have a concept and what emotion you want us to feel .. the poetry.  You have that, now you must not take that away from us.
