Hi again Betsy. Rather than attempting TO CONTROL the viewer's interpretation of the painting by making up a narrative to be ready by viewers, I think I'll choose to follow the tradition of some of the great painters of the past - like JMW Turner or George Innes. They believed that each viewer makes up their own interpretation of paintings. They believed that increasing the mystery of their works generated longer viewer involvement in their paintings, rather than the viewer quickly seeing, understanding and then moving on. But thanks for your suggestions - I appreciate your interest, for sure.
Hi Betsy. Thanks for the kudos and your perceptive observation that the design tells a story. The work is not a commission piece - I have yet to be so lucky. Actually, it's a composite from various beautiful internet photos of the Li River and of the rare Blood Moon brought to my attention by various reports - all altered on my PC in Photoshop software and composed into my original ideal design showing all eyes, including the ducks, looking at the all important moon. I saw the design as something uniquely beautiful to share in an original painting. I believe that the Chinese currency - the Yuan - depicts a Li River scene on the back of its paper bills. It looks like a very scenic place to visit in my next life :-)
