I love Matilija Poppies. Painting the flowers is not always easy trying to achieve definition, shape and shadows. I intended to have a dark background using leaf patterns, soft blended edges. Well, that didn't work so the following morning happy that I hadn't destroyed the piece, decided to draw lines and shapes which I painted (over the first layer of color) and there you have it...stained glass effect, a happy mistake.

I like the abstract quality to this painting.  Also like your other postings.
