11x14 Oil on canvas I used a photo of the garden taken at dusk. I cropped it and intensified the color of the reference as shown by Richard for WKshop48. The composition is a little funky because its a commission and she wanted to have the rocks left in the painting. She loves her Hollyhocks so I tried to make them the focus

Lovely Ann. Looks like a nice peaceful place to be.
Thank you Craig and Glenys
Hi Ann , this is very nice!
lovely atmosphere in this one Ann, its like a little fairyland and you have done a great job of it.
Thank you Jon and Cristina for your encouragement. Jon it is a garden in Vernal Utah. (high desert in western US) Merilyn used a back hoe to dig out the pond, borrowed a big truck with a winch to get the rocks out in the badlands. That is why she wanted the rocks painted in the painting. The pond is about 5 ft deep and is pumped out every 5 days, the water floods their pasture and goes back into the ground water. She asked me to paint it and bartered a hand made quilt in return.
Love the atmosphere created in this painting,so moody, so beautiful!! Wonderful!!
Good concept - get's you thinking! - a mysterious garden on an island???!!!!
