I tried many combinations of colors and every time I learned something different and I will be back a my colorwheel workshop.

This was a challenging workshop Jocelyn and an important one.  I think Michael comments are helping us to understand the concept we are aiming for.  You did a nice job.

Thanks a lot Michael for your comments and I know that with your experience you are pretty right. I choose red because it seemed to be a nice choice and when came the broken color concept I used my colorwheel trying to use color by 2 steps or by opposite could have stayed with my nice first step block but for me and many members I had to do it.

Jocelyn, You must, must ..find colors and values that relate to your step 1 ....this is crucial to depicting the planes of the block.  This statement is for everyone doing this workshop ....Broken color is not about painting indiscriminate spots of color/value.  The broken color MUST relate to the values and colors that make up each plane of the block.  The light side of the cube MUST depict .....LIGHT!  To do that, you must choose colors and values that relate to .....LIGHT.   The dark side of the cube must depict ...THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT ..therefore, the absence of warm colors.  In this red block, the dark side of the block would be painted first with a COOL red ..because it is not receiving light.  The light side begins with a WARM red ..because light is warm.  The broken color effect then must RELATE to these planes ...not fight each other.
