Hi Ana, no I used brushes only on this one. I am not so good in the use of broad brushes but studied my photo before and manipulated it with ArtRage. My fingers on the screen produced the effect of very broad brush use. and to my surprise that look good and encouraged me to start painting in real.  And I have to admit I also studied and learned from Michael's Sentinel on this site.

Goggle earth shows the spot ;-)

Hi, Gunther - interesting - good idea to show the sea - I've just got back from Sète, but in fact I don't know the canal after Carcassonne very well nor Narbonne or Beziers (yet!) Cycling it sounds lovely!

Hi Jon,
I didn't realize you are a local expert! I need to say or explain the location better then.
It is behind Les Ayguades. I shifted some trees to make the sea visible. Beside that all is as it was there. Helped with the lighting a bit perhaps.
Regards from Hamburg to Toulouse!

Hi Diane, sound too good to be true! Reality is we are a group of 20 cyclists and once a year we travel for a week together mostly somewhere south. I take some snapshots on the way and now have finally managed to make four paintings from that. I want to hang them together reminding of a nice week.

BTW the canal is what is impressive, built 1650, 250km long with 100 sluices and made in only a few years. The canal connects Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic.

Anyway thanks for looking - regards to NZ
