I think the monthly challenge was to push people out of their comfort zone. "Here it is" -- What can you do with it. When I first joined the site, I did one of the oil painting challenges. After that I just was not interested in painting their selections. I was too busy trying to do my own thing and learn about color on my own.

That's interesting. I like the monthly challenge idea.... I have a old painting that looks like this. I love it and still have it.... I don't know where it is from or how I even ended up with it.... but there it sits. I just don't want to throw it out.....

On another site I belong to they have monthly challenges where the leader picks some photo and every one tries to draw/paint it. Then you show how you did it. No competition just for fun. I am more concerned to make a good picture (art) than I am to prove that I can copy a photo.........so mine is a little different. I removed one of the people so I would have an odd number, and I put the toned oval. I was going through the book, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain at the time. I drew the camels upside down, and was so suprised when I turned it right side up to see a person sitting on the left camel. I really could not tell what it was doing so I just drew everything I saw upside down. Great trick. Ro

Ro, I like this.... I have a vintage painting that looks something like this. Do you have that same painting, if not how did you come up with this subject?
