It's always something! Printers are a big pain and I know all about that %%% canvas paper!  Good luck with that printer!   Glad you are all fired up......: ))

Yeah, it's important to have good materilas that you're happy using - I mean, it's quite a lot of time invested! It's good that you were restrained with the color IMHO

An oil sketch done from Richard's dinghy photo doneon that plasticky canvas paper.  I'm going to try this technique with a photot of my own, if I can (having printer issues right now). I had trouble achieving the luminosity that Richard gets - I'm sure the surface didn't help but I think it's probably because I mixed up the 2 layers of paint too much.  It was fun to do though, and I really needed a loose project - painting hasn't been going so well lately.  Now I'm all fired up again.
