Oh I see the yellow dropping out from the distant clouds towards horizon

Gorgeous. I'm still trying to assimilate what I've learnt from you as regards to colours dropping out in distance..for example the cardinal we did in the last workshop the mountains in the distance have yellow as do the clouds here in yr painting, am I right in assuming that that rule doesn't apply if there's a sunset or sun glow? Also if you have time could u look at my painting ' row yr boat' I've got to fix the body of the man but I feel a lot is amiss. The distant boat is see through as the value is the same as the water. That I learnt from you. People tell me the paintings fine but I don't think so and can't put my finger on it. Too much contrast in mountains maybe? Lack of colour in water? Sky not harmonising with sea?

Hi Stephen ..thank you very much for your kind comments.  I also have a lot to learn ..so we are both in the same boat ...just keep those brushes wet!!!

I keep being drawn back to this painting.  It’s wonderful.  I like the texture, the lighting and how you have caught the moment.  As a newbie to painting, this shows me how much I have to learn.  Eventually I hope to be able to paint something like this; it won’t be today, nor tomorrow, but maybe one day…
