My painting for the December Challenge.
At this time of the year our New Zealand Christmas Tree (Pohutakawa) is in full bloom. These trees have lots of aerial roots and cling to the rocky cliff faces on the northern coastlines.

Thanks for the advise Richard. I had noticed the rocks on the right lacked shadows and fixed that in my painting, but see the shadow of the large tree should be reflected in the water, and maybe a little darker in the sand. The photo seems to have turned out a little brighter on my screen than the actual painting.
:-) Wow Hazel that's a very cheery scene. Can I suggest to you that you have another look at the large shadow areas in the scene - you seem to have excluded them, which as I said makes for a cheery scene but it also limits the realism.
