Thank you Joy M W for your suggestions. I will try that.
Hi Michael,
Thank you so much for your explanation. I will use that knowledge with my next landscape painting. Yesterday, before reading your suggestions I made intuitively some changes to 2 paintings. I think they look little better that 1 version.
Hi Marta. To achieve the illusion of depth in regards to your clouds, you need to do the following: 1. Overlap your cloud shapes, 2. Diminish the size of your clouds as they recede in space, 3. The darks of the clouds will get cooler and lighter as the recede in space, 4. All of your cloud shapes will originate .. in linear perspective ... from a vanishing point on the horizon, 5. The sky color will be darker and cooler at the zenith, progressing to lighter and warmer bands of light at the horizon.
Hi Marta, welcome to the site. Make sure that you don't randomly place the cloud shapes, they need to be part of the composition and designed to move the eye as well perform the task of giving the illusion of depth. Overlapping and perspective will accomplish that goal.
