Fay, I like the softness of your paintings!

Steinnun, Walda, Dorian and Ian, thank you for your encouragement.  I agree Walda, our cameras and time of day can have a big bearing on how the viewer sees our finished painting doesn't it. Even subtle changes in light can have quite a marked effect.

Lovely painting.  Smiles and a like  Fay :-)

I'm thinking I like the second one best. Isn't it interesting how our photos make such a difference in our paintings. I keep thinking my paintings always look too blue and nothing I do makes much of a difference as far as how I photograph it. Your painting is very nice.

You have done a lovely painting Fay, I think I like the darker version.

I've posted below a photo which I had taken earlier in the day than the one above which shows a better distinction I think between the colours on the stony river basin and the sky. Same painting, no adjustments, just 2 different photos at different times of day. Not sure which one I prefer.

Hi Linda,  It's so lovely to hear your comments.

Fay, I just looked again at your workshop painting after reading your comment on mine. I had already checked "like it" when you first posted your painting! I think what I like is the soft peaceful relaxing scene. Makes me want to sit down in the quietness and have some reflecting time! Good job!

Ian, Olivia, Robin and Steinunn, thank you for your encouraging comments. I felt reasonably pleased with this painting when I'd finished it, but can see I could have put some darker darks in the foreground as Michael suggested.  Ian, I didn't mean the foreground dark to look as if it was all coming from the poplar tree shadow - I think I should have put some lights in between to break up that dark area seeing you "read" it as being all from the poplar tree shadow.  Thanks so much for your comments and critique.
