Hi, Mairo! Thanks - good comment - the composition was what attracted me - wish I'd done it darker and more abstract. You'll note that we have le commandant Chouette and le lieutenant lechat on board as they should be - les coquilles st jacques will be worth lots of notes ;D

I really like this one; the composition and the way you have cropped the sails, the colours you have used and those beautiful brush strokes in the foreground. (no owl or pussycat though?)

Hmm, I feel that if I sanded it (to 'go over' it/restarted it I could be more decisive and get better paint handling and more 'abstraction' - when you search and adjust I feel it shows - but I don't have the energy/motivation to 'repeat' them so much now .. I'm sort of hoping I'll get more assured with time....thanks for the comment, Jessica - it's so encouraging

Really like the way you're painting the water, Jon, with all those colourful brush strokes!  The figures are really well done too!
