Thank you everyone, yes Ann I think you're right but you know how it can be removing a dark area from a watercolour, I've decided to leave it as an object lesson, don't put a big contrast near the edge of a painting. It seemed like a a good idea at the time.

This is a really beautiful painting John.  I like your creativity.  You made good use of what I call "Momma bear, Papa bear, and Baby bear, shapes (large medium and small).  Good composition, and running shapes off the edges of your sides.  Oh, I like the dark tree, it keeps my eye from going off the right side of the painting and I feel like it's balanced by the several small dark shapes on the left side.  But if you consider any changes there, first turn the painting upside down and then sideways to see if it feels balanced to you....and never forget to squint!

Very interesting the way that you have found geometric shapes in the scene and your use of color shapes within a larger color shape. Do you need the dark tree ? He takes my  interest away fro the rest of the painting.
