ooooouuuu I like this one!  Really nice feel to it.  Love the way you suggest the trees and the atmospheric perspective.... really nice work.

Nice painting Dirk, I love the loose plein air feel to it and the whispy softness. The only critique I could give is the river coming in from the right is a bit too geometric, two straight lines coming into a strong V, although I do like the bush breaking the line, maybe a widening of the river at the base would be better? I too paint with a toned background but the bits of red throught he clouds is just a little distracting. This painting gets my vote as favorite.

very expressive. I have a really hard time letting my self go to accomplish this. I am trying to loosen up my strokes but it doesn't come so natural. It bet you get a sense of freedom from it.

good job and good luck!

This is a gem!  I'm just loving the foreground brushwork and dashes of color.  :)

Nice!  I like the bold and confident brushwork, and the strong design.  First thought that the stream was a road.....kind of edgy interesting.  Like the flecks of colour.

I love the freedom you use with your loose brushwork.  That is something I keep trying for but am unable to achieve.  Beautiful painting.

i really love the loose and yet purposeful brushwork  and i love the spots of color throughout...i think if the spots in the sky were a bit more complimentary..as in more orange than red, it might be a bit more harmonious- i often do a complimentary underpainting and let some of that show through the finished piece.  good job!
