"Springtime in the Hill Country" 30x40" acrylic

This is a mash up of a lot of plein air painting and memories hiking in Central, TX. It got a bit detailed, but I guess that can happen when painting big. Overall, keeping things blocked together (trees, bluebonnets, etc) seemed to help.

I kept looking at reference paintings that were so tight it's almost mechanical. It's due for an art walk now to hopefully raise money for the community arts program there, but if I could set it aside a while and come back to it, that would be the first thing I'd do.

The value shift between the far hill and tree is great the water is believable in brown and the general composition is nice. The blue bonnet area is a little busy and could be simplified some. Just a thought regarding a beautiful painting. Oh and I must mention your lovely tree !
