Glad you like it, Mary. As I indicated in my photo's comments, this is a color study, quite unfinished, especially in the foreground, but got my mind going as to what I might want to do for this "Sis Challenge". As it turns out I've changed the focal point entirely for the finished piece. Still contains poppies, but they are supporting actor's (or actresses!) in the new painting. This one I will tidy up, varnish and gift to my sis-in-law to go with her many other poppy hangings, quilts etc. Looking forward to seeing your work when it is up.

REally like the way you've done this, with the landscape background - actually reminds me of two pieces I have in mind to do . . . one is poppies, from photos taken in my daughter's garde .  . . and the other is muscari, with a redbud tree off in the distance.

Thanks you Laura. I'm now working on the painting I did this study for. Totally different. the study was mostly to work on the poppies and think about what direction I wanted to take it...That direction has changes several times! we will see. Glad you dropped in, hope you are enjoying the challenge (yikes!) it's gonna be a really interesting next couple of months!

Carolyn, this is the place to post things on which you want feedback. Using 5 photos to compose is a great way to go. Mr. Robinson discussed how to use photos last month. Norman Rockwell used a lot of photos to compose his work--he even traced some of them onto the canvas! So don't worry abut that. You are in good company.
