The Bears of Katmai

This work was from my 2008 journey to Alaska. I watched this mother and her cubs for three days and it was so wonderful to learn their natures, see what wonderful mothers bears are, learn of the heirachy that exists between different bears and just appreciate the wonderful wildlife that we are so lucky to have in our world. Long may it be there for our grandchildren and their grandchildren.

Comment by Lorna Allan on September 25, 2010 at 12:30: Thank you Gail and Peter. She was looking for the next fish to jump. She also took these two little ones across that river to the top of the Brooks Falls but the one on the left here got worried going across and turned back. His sister (they did seem to be that way) came back to him and I have a delightful photo of them sitting together in the rushing river looking as though one was trying to convince the other. The mother then saw them and came back for them both. The funny part was when she got them to the top of the falls and was trying to teach them to fish, and not looking, that one sneaked off again!
