Great energy in this Jon. Nice warm cool contrast. Gotta get those wires dead straight. Drawing a little off not he left sides of the bows. Trees a little stiff. Good colour.

Hi, Ruby! Funny how I like painting boats so much! - I did a tiny bit of sailing and loved it - maybe it's a sort of "retired executive's dreams of freedom/discovery" thing ;D!? (hey, I ain't retired!) - anyay, thanks!

Thanks, Candi, (that deck is very old and bust up ;D !). I wore out the 'Pause button" and my color mixes didn't come out like Richards'!

Hi, Steinunn - nice of you to say so!

Thanks, Michael - I couldn't believe it when I saw how distinct the trees were - for me (with my nose stuck to the video) it was an amorphous mass! I'm always amazed how the eye can detect the sublest shifts. This point about interesting, varies shapes doesn't suit the unconcious = hard to master (please keep on reminding me/us of the important points like this!)

Jon, I agree with the comments of the other artists here!! ..well done.  I really, really love the warm reflected light on the hull of the boat! ... it might be a little to high in value though???? ... BUT, still so good looking!!  Anyway, be careful with those tree shapes in the background .... kind of uninteresting triangular shapes both in the positive shape and negative shapes of the sky.  Remember .. irregular shapes make interesting shapes.

Strong and well rendered Jon.

Jon, you did really well on this one, and your background is great! (but your deck seems to be slanting a bit)  I tried painting along with Richard to the video on this one too, it is difficult! Mine took me about six hours this time!  Usually I just watch, and take notes on colors.

Hi, Laura - well, I love boats - not in themselves so much (though for an artificial object they do have organic forms (hard to draw!!)) - but more as symbols (of freedom or something?!) - ta!

Thanks, Glenys - from you that's real praise!
