Began this planning to use acrylics just as an underpainting, but continued with them. Interesting to see the differences after painting with oils for so long. Much easier to get clean colour & to go over areas, but getting soft edges is more difficult. Fun experience!

Thank you, Aurelia & Pauline for your kind comments - it's straight from Richard's demonstration, so the kudos go to him for his excellent teaching!

This is such a strong design Jessica, i love the boulders the whole composition is very eye catching, great painting, i agree with everything you have said about acrylic , if they didn't dry so quickly they'd be a dream!!

Ana, thank you for your generous comment - not brave, it just seemed to go well with acrylics!

Thank you Silvana - yes, that's an issue with acrylics - on the other hand, I did find it goes on a lot smoother than the paint I usually use & I really didn't mind splashing it on as it's so much cheaper!  So it has advantages too!  Mistakes are easy to go over as well.  I was surprised how much I liked it, actually, as when I first used them some years back I didn't like the effects I got.

Jessica, you've been very brave to attack this in acrylic. Good job, much better than mine.

Nice one Jessica!

Very interesting comments Michael! It's always gratifying to read whatever comments you make. Jessica, that is the problem I found with acrylics. It would be very easy to soften the dome with oils... now, with acrylics, mine would be all dry!!!! And the trouble of preparing the same colour again would be almost impossible(for me)!

Thanks a lot for the helpful comments, Michael!  Very much appreciated.  I've never seen Half Dome except in the video of the workshop - good idea to make a contrast with angular vs curved lines & their directions; didn't think about that one!
