Critiqued Paintings

Posted on July 31, 2016 at 9:56 9 Comments

I Had the opportunity to have two of my paintings Stormy Sunrise and LULU 1306 critiqued at the Tauranga Society of Artists by a recognised artist member of the society.

Stormy Sunrise

Where as the painting was very good and the detail in the foreground excellent he felt the sameness of the sloping rocks on the left spoilt the composition somewhat, also there was a need for more contrast in the splashing wave in the centre foreground. He…

Thank you Ian.  I will be happy to be your friend.  Lately I have been hit and miss here, but am determined to keep at it.  Life gets in the way of painting sometimes.  Your painting is gorgeous.  You are obviously quite a wonderful landscape painter.  Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Hi Ian, glad to be your friend.  Yes everything is ok so far, we had some eruptions north/east from Vatnajökul but nothing to worry about yet, our men monitor every move.

Thank you for caring Ian, wishing you a good day.

Your painting is a beauty with those majestic mountains Ian.

Hi Ian,  Yes been in transition. We have left the barrier last Feb. Now living in Coatesville managing a retreat centre. Fabulous property and lots to do keeping 10 acres.

I continue to keep an eye on Complete artist and will jump in when an interesting subject comes up.

I have been along to one paint-out with the plein air group, always a struggle to find the time. Anyway great to hear from you Ian. I see you have been doing some nice work here.

Yes, that would be super.  Lake Barrine is the one with the Tea House.  We are at Lake Eacham, great swimming spot and in the middle of world heritage rain forest, it is 800m walk from our place.  We have a studio/granny flat on our property, almost self-contained and great for guests.

Hi Ian, thank you for your friend request, I am delighted to be on your friend list. I do love your paintings and have watched them over the months to improve greatly. I love your subjects and your composition. I live in NZ also and love our beautiful country. I see you capture it beautifully in your paintings. I having only been painting a couple of years when I have time to pick up the paint brush. Just love it and doing Richards workshops has been fun and a great learning kerb. Really have enjoyed the correspondence with such lovely people from all around the world. What an opportunity. Great to make new friends and share advise and ideas.
