"Also Roena I have just read your comments on my paintings so thank you very much. I do live in a lovely part of the world and will always want to live near the sea.......the tide was right out in the one with the boat and I used artists licence to…"
"Hi Roena. Had a long weekend away. I said I would get back to you and reading all the help you have had I don't want to add any more except to say that Edith is quite right in saying put more darks in the shadow and it will bring out the…"
"Thanks Roena. The painting is 46 X46 cm and I did it in very thinnned down oils. This is my new teachers influence, he is an impressionist. I am very pleased with it. he just showed me how blobs of colour and shadow make up the painting as on the…"
"Another nice one. The clear water in the foreground is good, and the rocks are wonderful. As a salor, I think I would flip out if I had to come in to an anchorage and deal with all those scary rocks! Your area where you live is beautiful. Ro"
"(what size is it and is it pastels?) It is beautiful. I blew it up big to see the full size. You have used so many different colors in the sand/water, and the birds are amazing for just "swipes" of color. The children are well done too. I…"
"So that I understand........my white ding on the egg is in the middle of the white highlight that is already there......NOT........brighten the entire white highlight that I painted already. AND small dings in the middle of the white highlights on…"
"I would say just on the egg as that would really highlight the egg...if you did it on the material too maybe it would be too much....or maybe just small dings on the material....just in the middle of the white highlights that are there now......hope…"
"Hi Roena, just looking at your spotlight effect egg, and I think you could have done another "ding" of bright white on the spotlight on the egg, just to bring it out more. If you squint your eyes and look, the contrast is not quite big…"
So that I understand........my white ding on the egg is in the middle of the white highlight that is already there......NOT........brighten the entire white highlight that I painted already. AND small dings in the middle of the white highlights on the material.............///// Have you seen Richards 2005 paintings of the girls swinging on the rope swing in the white dresses? http://www.newzealandartist.com/z195.htm That is one and there are 2 others. The point in that is that "white" is not pure white, but appears to be white when you tint the white with a color and then surround it with its complement. I have attempted that idea and not put it in the gallery yet. I just does not have that "white punch" that the little girl's dress has. Thinking back to your teacher......should I just give up and slap a "small amount" of white on the edges of parts of the tree?
You're most welcome.
To add your paintings, just go over to the right hand side of the screen, under where your name is, then just below the settings icon, there is a box with "Quick Add". Click on this, scroll down to "Photos" & Click. When it opens, click the browse button & direct it where to look for your paintings. Hope this helps.
