Indecision......I just hate it! I too came back to art after 20-30 years, and I kept my supplies even though I got rid of "stuff" to move into our motorhome (1998) and travel full time -- I started back in oils. The last (years ago) that I had painted was with WC and gouache. But, I picked up the oils. I could not remember how to do and threw away the first 3 attempts. Remembering comes faster than learning in the first place, so after 1.5 years I am about up to speed (I hope) again. At least my confidence level is almost back. I thought I wanted to be a landscape artist, even considering plein air, but doing the exercises in Richard's color course showed me that my strong point is close up details. My indecision (as I first mentioned) is deciding what to paint next. I am on another site where there is a forum on the Flemish Oil Technique. I am going to do one all the way. Do you know about this? Takes a huge amount of time, but produces amazing paintings with so much debth. Rembrant and others used this. If you are interested in this process I can direct you to information. OH, so I finally decided that I am going to paint -- some of my American Indian pottery (I have a small collection). OH, and Lori.......I can change my mind in a heart beat! More of that indecision! LOL Ro

Thanks for the gift, Lori. smile........I used to put white gouache WITH my WC and paint. I never used only gouache. Have you looked at my old art to see which ones were the WC/with/gouache? I liked it alot, but you had to be very, very careful as 1 drop of water where you had painted was almost non-fixable! (Homestead, Mountain & Eagle, High Country Snow) It almost looks like oil paints bc it is opaque. I can tell you how to do that if you are interested in giving it a try. Do you already have WC paints and white (a fresh tube) gouache? Ro

Lori. I dont mind at all about Gail (my good friend) telling you to contact me at all. I looked at your on line college. I think, if you would have someone, that would honestly, tell you what you could do to improve, it would be good. I looked at their prices and I did not understand it at all. (sorry) You did not mentiion what exactly you were interested in at all. I thought your portraits and close up items were the best....well they were MY favortes. //On line sites, like The Complete Artist, tend to be "good girl". Not many feel free to say the truth. I try, but feel more free to try to help newbees. (LOL) I have only tried online color classes..........no feedback......... and I tried to do the execises as best as I could. Honest feed back might be realy good. In conclusion, if you have someone honestly say what they believe/think/know it might be better than "good girl" always. From what I saw on the on line class......pick your 1 of the most interesting.......try it..........see what you think. I think you have a lot of good talent both in color and closeups-people included. Sorry I can not help more. Ro

Thank you so much Lori!
You're most welcome. I would like to think that I can extend a helping and encouraging word where I can. It would have been so nice to have had that same thing, when I was starting out. :-))
Happy painting!
Regards,
Gail
