Yelena, Lets you and I just be true friends. What that means is that if you are busy with life, especially getting to paint out side because the weather is wonderful, you can rest assured that I would never even notice that you had not answered right away. I would just be so happy to hear from you! I am hoping to "get up the nerve and finally just do it"...get outside and paint. I have many excuses that I tell myself, but I keep hoping anyway that someday it will work out for me. // I guess just ask your husband to not help you unless you ask for help so that you can be free to experiment and have fun. // Would you care if I had your e-maill address? Mine is roenasongbird@yahoo.com . Send me a note and say who you are in the subject line so that I recognize you. It is easier to communicate via e-mail than on this site, I think. // You did not answer my question about did you have to do anything special to be able to paint WC on silk. Ro
I was in a gallery once and there was a person who painted WC on silk. Seems like you painted on silk, but was that for clothing? Is there any special thing you have to do to be able to paint on silk like you would do for paper for a WC painting? Just wondering. Ro
Hi Yelena,
Thank you again. I have visited your friend's site - your silk work is absolutely stunning! No wonder it sells internationally. Congratulations! :-))
Hi Yelena,
To answer your question about china painting - it is hand painted chinaware. The artist use a very fine oil like almond or lavender to mix with the paint; after it is dry, it is fired in a kiln.
To me, it looks more like watercolor because it is so fine and more transparent than traditional oil painting. :-)
Hi Yelena,
I have just studied the works in your gallery. They are truly amazing. At first, I though they were china paintings, then realized they were watercolor!
How long have you been painting? And where did you train?
Every one is beautiful in its own right. Well done. :-))
Yelena, I am so impressed with these WC. I was (my opinion) getting pretty good with the WC and gouache (I just posted some tonight of my old paintings). When I decided to start painting again after 30 years, I picked up oils and started trying to remember how to do it. Some day I do hope to again pick up WC and WC with gouache. I would love to be able to take some classes from you (.....where do you live? I am in the USA LOL). You are just amazing. Ro
Yelena, I completely understand. Trying to switch from "photo quality" to abstract is very difficult for me. I keep trying because I now am so interested in color.....and wanting the color to say it all (the beauty). However, if I get stumped and dont know what to do next.......I revert back to the details. I seem to do my best abstract with a palette knife. LOL Ro
www.artpapa.com did have some beautiful paintings. I happen to know of another artist that paints similar in technique that you might be interested in seeing. He has a very large website with lots of free information. http://www.easy-oil-painting-techniques.org/ Delmus Phelps is the artist. Ro
