Thank you for the friend request Nigel.  Your paintings are beautiful, I am looking at them now as I type.  I am relieved that you did not mind my critique, I was a little hesitant on doing so.

Nigel,
I'm not too good at this computer stuff, so at the risk of repetition ,in case I didn't send it, I would like to have you as a friend and to learn some acrylic techniques from you if you don't mind .
OK?

I love your photos and your paintings.  Thanks for the friend request - it is nice to communicate and learn from the others on the site.

It looks like we have more than our family in common! If your into water and boats check out a British artist called Harley Crossley, he also paints cars and planes but its his canal scenes which I like best and dad and grandad have some of his original work from 1970's. I was lucky enough to meet Harley when I studied his work for my A Level Art personal study in 1997.

Hi Nigel,

thank you for your comments on the Pine Cones. Much appreciated.  :-))

As for the vintage cars - watercolor on 300gsm W/C paper.

Hope this answers your question; if not let me know. I wasn't sure if you were asking for the actual technique.

Hi Nigel, thanks for the friendship. Welcome to my world.  I have only lived in the north here since 2000 coming from Dunedin at that time for family reasons.  I still have family down south too but find Auckland has more opportunities for my art so here I stay in the meantime.  Off soon to head down to Fairlie in Mid Canterbury for a three months artist residency so its very exciting.

Best to you

Lorna

Hi Nigel from Marilyn!

Sorry I took so long to respond.

OOO I think your paintings are so lovely, and I especially like the four rowboats, and the painting with the magnificent large rocks! Also on many paintings your values are

so right on to me as to the dark green trees and various background plants.

About me...I am 61 and after long chronic illness, (15 yrs) and after loving

outdoors and being 20 yr tennis player before I lost the good health....

Well now I am in high spirits looking to the pastime of painting. I started with watercolor

and was not great at all. Now I am new into acrylic and oil. I am not up to your level yet,

and have only painted a few things. However I will send them as soon as I figure out

how to attach the photos.

I love Monet, Manet, and most of the Impressionists. I was a Liberal Art Major

and went to college during marriage and parenting. 25yrs later unfortunately I am divorced...or maybe fortunately!  Couldn't have children, and we adopted one girl who

was plagued with some mental disorder. She is living successfully now..but in the meantime I was exhausted from her.  I count my blessings for the present!

Retired from teaching  , (vocational- cosmetology in my early years) and

elementary  children in my 40's-50's, I so love to go to YOU TUBE for all the art lessons.

Do you?

Thank you for sharing all your paintings..This is so much fun!

Mari

Sorry about that - it stands for "in my opinion", I'm just getting used to this stuff as well. Lol

(lots of laughter)

Hi Nigel,

Thank you so much for your comment on the Single Spinner.

It was a huge task for me - completely put of my comfort zone! But I finally got there! :-))
