Bryan Mark Taylor's The Master's Mind

Hi All!  I keep looking at this video and contemplating whether to purchase or not.  Just wondering if anyone is familiar with it, has used it (or know of anyone who has), and whether it was found useful or not?

I know I should be making a schedule of certain areas to work on, but don't know where to begin, or what areas to work on or thought this might help.

Thanks for your input!

New Members Posts

I think when an artist posts their ... whole ... portfolio at one time, it becomes quite overwhelming and I tend to just pass over them.

Autumn in the Park WIP

I am trying to get back into painting and have chosen something from my neighborhood - an autumn scene- I love the abstract patterns in the water, the pop of sienna in the focal tree, the diagonals that move the eye through the scene- I am struggling with whether to crop...I think I like the depth in the current view. Onto more thumbnails and then a value study.  I confess, I already started this twice, without the proper process and of course not to my liking.  I must really discipline…

A Stroll in the Park WIP

First, many thanks to Michael for his kind offer to help me achieve my goals with this painting!..and to my friends here who have been so supportive.  This is the first painting I'm attempting since losing my husband to a battle with stomach cancer.  It's been a difficult time for me and this marks a beginning step in healing my grief. The source photo I'm using is from our vacation at Cape Cod only last July when life seemed so sunny & bright - and this painting is a tribute to that…

I am new to this site, a bit intimidated.

As long as I remember I appreciated art. Even my children's books were selected by the quality of illustrations. Unfortunately, never got a chance to get an art class. Only later ( too late:-) in my life I bought a basic set of paints and started experimenting. Have not moved too far (very busy life style), but still jealous of those who can draw, paint. You guys!

If you would find a little time to give me some feedback I would greatly… Continue

Photographing Work

I noticed that there is glare from the canvas in the photo of my rose painting. Drat. This lightens things noticeably. Need some tips on taking photos too :)

Hi everyone.  I just got word that Ken Auster passed away a few days ago.  A great artist and teacher, he will be missed.

New to The Complete Artist

I am new to The Complete Artist.  Actually, a terrified newcomer.  I pushed myself to post my acrylic painting on canvas yesterday.  I know I will not grow until I get feedback, good or bad.

So I am hoping that some members will be willing to "gently" nudge me along.

Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts on "Bullrushes"

The importance of shapes

The other day I had an email from an art teacher in Uganda asking that I critique some student work - ages 10 and 11.

Here's what I wrote:

Hello class, your teacher has asked me to critique some paintings for you. That’s a pretty cool teacher because he bugged me for you until I said yes. Good job teacher!

Let me say first that each and every artist has their own idea of what…
