Painting on a vibrant canvas

“Red Crested Cardinal” 12×12″ Acrylic on Canvas by Richard Robinson

The idea of painting on a ‘toned’ (coloured) canvas is not a new one. In fact it’s been used for centuries to banish the tyranny of the white canvas and to help thread colour through a painting. It’s tried and tested.

However, not many people paint on vibrant coloured canvas.…

Glazing

I read your article on glazing.  I am very excited.  I just painted my beautiful grand daughter on a setting sun beach with a surf board.  I find the sunset could be improved and the surf board overpowers the picture instead of the subject.  I think glazing will work well on that painting and I am going to try it.  Hopefully, this sill be a successful attempt at improving my work.

Three shades of gray

I wanted to explore more interesting colors for when we use a "gray" in our paintings. I used three different mixes in these three paintings. These acrylic paintings were done using a common theme of red on a dark background.

Bryan Mark Taylor's The Master's Mind

Hi All!  I keep looking at this video and contemplating whether to purchase or not.  Just wondering if anyone is familiar with it, has used it (or know of anyone who has), and whether it was found useful or not?

I know I should be making a schedule of certain areas to work on, but don't know where to begin, or what areas to work on or how...so thought this might help.

Thanks for your input!
