"Port Jackson" 11x13" Oil on Canvas by Richard Robinson

Just got back from a week away campervan-ing around the Coromandel with the family. Had a great time. This was the only painting I managed to squeeze into our time away - our favorite spot staying right on the beach at a DOC (Department of Conservation) camp. The tide swamped me painting this as the sun slid behind the hills. The vertical blobs on the beach are folks putting a fishing net out. The white shiny blob on the grass verge is our little rental campervan.

Great way to see the country although remembering my bike trip around Australia some years back I can't help but feeling a bit lazy driving everywhere. The kids (6 & 8) loved it though and we're looking at buying a campervan now to get more of this sort of thing happening, and I'm personally envisaging getting to paint a lot more of this beautiful country. It's true that there is enough beauty in our small neighbourhood to keep me painting for the rest of my life, but seeing new landscapes certainly does get the creative juices flowing and after all it's the inner journey that's important because wherever you go, there you are. The best places can't be found on any map. :-)

We took our kids camping here 30 years ago!! We all enjoyed it so much that we stayed another week. I love your painting, although quite surprised you used so much green considering you are not so fond of it. :)
