Hi Rodrigo,

I have read lots of books from various masters.  They all encourage painting small in the beginning with big brushes and avoid details.  Making things more painterly and avoiding details and that is where I fail… My problem is, I see value changes and I want to put it… I should use less value changes and to make things interesting use temperature changes instead.  I think I have learnt a lot from this failure from feedback on the "Photos" section of this forum.  Let's hope I do better next time.  In the mean time my back is totally out and I am hurting, so no painting for a little bit.  :)

Hi Faisal.

I kind of agree with you about the plein air... I got back to my figuratives and still lives, which are not easier either. Anyway, the smaller the canvas size the more difficult it is to paint everything with a great detail.

Needless to say, it´s our burden isn´t it? I´m trying a lot of techniques and other stuff, and haven´t much to show for the moment, and get feedbacks from others. I´ll do it in the future, anyway.

B&W, impasto, and so on, among other things. At least it is worth it for me!

Thanks Rodrigo,  This painting has been a total disaster.  I put it up anyway for some feedback.

I think I should stay with smaller composition something that I can work with and use less value changes and rely on temperature changes for more interest.  I don't think it is the canvas size… It is my ability with Plein Air… Plein Air is very demanding.

Hi Faisal. The same comments i did before still apply, in my opinion. In the last three paintings you have done, the one with the bridge is the one i did like the most. This one has depth, and i like the palete you are using, but the same general "feelings" are there again.

Why don´t you try a bigger canvas to see if it has the same effect on a painting of yours?
