'Moments Shared' - Oil on Canvas - 36x64"

Finished! Took me about half a day to get the face where I wanted it - turned out to be the trickiest bit, not just because it was a face, but because I was trying to achieve the likeness of my Father and still retain the expression in the broad brushstrokes in such a small area, which meant I had to have the big strokes exactly the right colour and in exactly the right spot. Could be better, but then it can always be better. Sometimes you just have to stop yourself from fiddling otherwise you lose all the good work you have done. Very happy with the finished painting anyway - especially the balance of warm and cool colour.

Fabulous job, RR. - Congratulations! It gives the sense of the subject characters beckoning the viewer to walk into the picture with them. I can almost hear the seaguls and smell the air from here in Central North Carolina.

Best wishes
