I take lots of pictures when I am away on a trip. Many of them make it onto the canvas in altered states. I use the photos to refresh my memory not to slavishly copy them; as it is unlikely that I will go back to that very place I photographed, it is an excellent record of what I saw and felt at the time of taking the shot. As I did with the painting "desert Message" I took two individual pictures and created a composite work to tell the story of our visit to the 'rock' also with the Tindal's Bay painting of the sunset, it was in essence two pictures in one. Your travel pics can make a valuable tool, when you can no longer be in that particular place, and a memory jogger to stir those creative juices. I have albums I can look back to, of all of the places I have visited, and label them, eg; water/seascapes, landscapes/ cities/ people/ etc....you get the 'picture'.

thanks Joseph, aren't cameras a wonderful accessory?
I agree my dear. Sometimes I will put parts of 4 or 5 pics in one painting.
