Painting on the Great Barrier Island (again).

Amazing how dark a camera makes the shadows in the distant hills compared to what I was actually seeing yesterday. In the photo there's barely a half step difference between the darks in the foreground branches and the darks in the background hills. In my painting I recorded a difference of about 2 whole steps which creates much more depth.

Love the splashes of red we can put in the Pohutukawa at this time of the year. Brings your painting to life. So jealous of you over there painting. Looks like lots of neat places with not many people. "" Private Plane "" indeed!
