Had a great day yesterday painting with Diane Boucher at Waipu Cove under a tree - taking our time, having coffee and num-nums - very nice. Below is the progression of the painting...
'Waipu Cove II" - 10x8" - Oil on Canvas board
And here's a painting I did on the same spot last week with American artist Laurie McKeon...

It's very liberating returning to the same spot and giving yourself different challenges. In this first painting I wasn't happy with the darks - they seemed all a bit too blue and uninteresting, so I was glad to have the chance to try again with another approach. Being a demo for Diane I didn't really cut loose with #2 as much as I would have liked, but I still really enjoyed it. Which one do you like the most? 1 or 2?
Here's Diane's painting too - albeit a bad photo of it. (her 3rd time painting outdoors):
Happy painting you guys.
