Plein Air Painting on Great Barrier Island

"Pa Beach" 10x14" Oil on Canvas by Richard Robinson

Spent 2.5 hours painting on this nice beach this afternoon in the good company of Jim Robertson who's kindly put up with us for the 5 days we've been on the island. Really nice to be able to do a painting for myself instead of for a workshop. Workshop paintings tend to get pretty simplified because you have to take people through step by step so there's not a lot of room to really let the brush start flying by itself so to speak. Really enjoyed this one and it's beer o'clock now - the girls have been out fishing while we've been painting, so we're having a beer waiting for them to bring home the dinner. Nice. :-)

Another view of Pa Beach - weird hole eh? Don't know why, just is.

Palmers Beach - would love to come back and paint this one!

That's a great painting of Pah Beach, very evocative of the light on Gt Barrier.

Nice painting Richard!  I think if I were you I would brush out the small redish rock in the water.......seems to keep pulling in my eye.  I am happy you are enjoying your vacation.  There seems to be another "hole" in the second pic on Palmers Beach as well.   Perhaps an anchient tidal wave blew them out.

Ahh the life of a painter. A few brush strokes, a beer & waiting for the girls to get back with dinner. Could it get any better, haha. Great painting & nice spot too Richard.
