Yes both were done from photos.  These 2 came out fairly good...I am not always pleased with.  It takes someone else to see.    Your comments are an inspiration.  Thanks, JD

Glad you liked my tomatoes.   I was trying to do something different and saw these hanging in a hot house.  Thanks for looking.   I just added 2 paintings.  If you have time, take a look.  Judith

Thank you for dropping in and viewing my work Roger. In the course of the past 4 years I learned that one understands and works with watercolor but never quite masters it :-)

I (naturally) bucked it starting out and was duly chastened. This piece was one where I got lucky. I've always liked drawing since grade school, it helps quite a bit when I revert to drawing with a brush :-)

I appreciate your comments all the more since you are an accomplished artist.  I'm duly impressed as well. Cheers

Hi Richard, So good to hear from you and thank you for your very kind comments.  You might recall that I visited you in South Australia a couple of years ago and had some painting lessons from you.  You were my best acrylic teacher and I have no doubt about that.  I look forward to traveling back to SA again when the opportunity arises and I will visit for some more lessons.  I truly haven't painted much in acrylics since then, focusing mostly on watercolours.  But the time has come again for acrylics and oils and I'm looking forward to the challenge.  Good to have you as a friend too.

Hi Richard, Thanks for accepting. The versatility is some times to my detriment, as it seams to my I am unable to excel in a specific direction. Resulting in being a bit of a "jack of all triads" and having difficulty in finding my niche.

Hi Richard, thank you for your nice comment. The pansies are my best painting till now, I think, and it's one of my favourite paintings.

I find myself looking for directions, angles and lenght of lines in objects and photo's already, and it helps a lot. The second thing that will help are your "10 Things I tell my students". I just read them and wrote them down in my notebook.
This is one of the things I really like of this website, people help each other, so: Thank you for your "10 Things...".

Thanks Richard - I don't get enough time to practice art and gain confidence being a mum of 3 children, so your positive comments are much appreciated!

Thanks for posting this on here - it is great to see how a painting has been put together!  Love your style - is this oil or acrylic?

I meant to ask, just what is "PrimitivePostModernNeoPointillistSurrealPopOpTonalColourist"?

Is that similar to everything but the kitchen sink? LOL

More than happy to be friended, its a  pity there's such a big hunk of country between us as I'm sure I can learn a great deal from you. What amazes me is that you get such realistic results using such free painting approach!

Love your work Richard, a great loose approach
