I have only been doing VAA for three months and are really learning lots. I have probably slowed down in my paintings but find myself asking questions like, notan, values, negative shapes so my progress is slow. Oils are my favourite medium. I joined to help me with some structure of learning about colour mixing etc. I have been reading other comments and have found they interesting.

How long have you been doing VAA?

Thank you fro reaching out! I have not had a chance to update or do anything further with my profile but it was nice to see you reach out. Cindy from VAA did the same so it is nice to have some familiar faces in the crowd. This place looks awesome. Between VAA and this site, there is so much being offered that I think I may have a painter meltdown. This should be a fun site!

I can certainly see from your work and comments that Barry John's program has worked quite well for you; I have been a member for about a year and read all the newsletters, but I never paid the money to buy the whole lesson. Since I am a self- trained artist, some formal instruction like the VAA program should work quite well for me. I will wait a short bit to see how you like the new program. Oh, I loved you critique of Michael's painting, but he took it down so fast that I missed some of the other comments and never downloaded the painting or any of the comments. Stu

How are you and how's married life? All wonderful I hope : )

I've been very inactive with my artwork for a long time. Both my parents died in the last couple of years and my own health hasn't been great and I've hit a major creative block which I haven't pulled out of...yet! I know enough from past experience just to sit with it and not give myself a hard time but this one's a biggie. I have some exciting ideas but lack the wherewithal to realise them. It's nearly two years since I did any life drawing which seems absolutely incredible!

How's your painting going?
