One of my greatest accomplishments so far was painting a bullbar on a ute.  Well done to you Sergei...

Hi Sergei, I loved your comment about painting "pretty things" as this is my feeling also.  Sometimes I still paint pretty things but often my work is also symbolic.  I thought everything was at an angle... the coffee and all... knew, from your introduction that it wasn't a 'mistake'... *smile*

Sergei, now proved my guess. Something you want to tell behind the painting. Your words make me thinking. Thank you, Sergei.  Your thought inspired me.  And also I appreciate your encouragement. Li

The objects in the setup are solid and heavy. I wanted to convey the idea that, no matter how solid something is, once upon a time it all starts sliding and shifting and becoming unstable. Such is the spirit of times we live in. Maybe I wanted too much of a meaning in a still life though. I just can't help it. I can paint pretty things looking pretty but it does not interest me.

Congrats for producing your beautiful painting, Li. I like the chiaroscuro look in still lives very much.

Sergei,  I like this one too. a lot of work isn't it.  one question, can you tell me your idea to make such inclined design. Do you want to give the viewers a sense of movement?

Yes, very nice.  All slipping away.  I appreciate the thought you put into this.

Great job Sergie. I like your slant on things! That carpenters pencil is so real, I can feel the wood.......smiles to you  dor:))

Certainly a different slant on a still life LOL. Carpenters must of had it tough during this time.  Your values are working really well in those metal and glass.

I always found just copying the reality quite pointless while striving to achieve as true look as possible at the same time. So, while I was trying to paint metal surfaces convincingly, I couldn't help myself to insert some deeper meaning. Thanks for compliments.

I like how you have captured the feeling of instability to express meaning behind the subject. Great Colour harmony.
