I am a grandmother raising 4 grandbabys and the last time i did anything resembling art work was about 35 years ago.  Just looking at everyone pictures mine seem very child like......makes me wonder if I should keep at it or not .  All your work looks so wonderful!  I just did my first watercolor in years and I cant even hope to look as good as yours.

Anyway  I live in Mississippi and I was raised in the middle east (Egypt). In Cairo I did mostly Batiks now  I use mostly water color pencils and inks and those look like they would bee at home in 16th century Persian art.  I just sort of inherited a box of acrylics gouaches and a box of water color cakes.  So  I said why not........but I need alot of help hahahaha (lots of it)

Dear Erinne ... a belated Welcome as I have just returned to the program.  I must say that I admire you for having the energy and love to raise 4 grandchildren ... Painting is a wonderful way to remove yourself from the pressures of daily living.  I am looking forward to viewing your work.  enjoy! Gina

Thank you Gina
I sort have now created this interesting use of paints that came out of trying to teach my grandkids about printmaking.  Not having printing stuff around, I painted on a bit of plexiglss to make prints.  It did ok but the paint didnt stick well to the plastic.  I then used dishliquid to coat the plastic and then paint over it.  Soap at some places bubbled up etc creating some itneresting textures.  after it was all painted on the plastic I soaked a peice of watercolor paper and took a print off of it.  In some instances i got some really intersting effects.........still playing with it tho but i really sort of liked it........At least this way im not trying to make it look like something as the wet paper and the print changes it in places lol

Hi Erinne,  I have just returned to the website and read your description of using plexi glass to make prints.  This is such a great idea and plan to give it a try.  I do have a question, if you don't mind me asking, when you lay the wet paper over the plexi glass, what did you use to "press the image into the paper"?  I was think rolling pin?  or perhaps nothing?  I may just need to experiment, but was curious.

Mandi

I use a tablespoon and use a finger inside the bowl of the spoon for pressure and control while I rub the spoon all over

the trick for me is to be patient to let the water saturate the paper (if not its too dry), and then make sure to blot dry the surface ( or might get too runny).......... I would post a couple to show you some of the prints i have done but I dont know how.....and im sure iim not that good an aritst
